when school lets out for the summer.
In fact, many children in Brookings dread
the end of the school year,
because they'll no longer be able to count on eating
at least one good meal each weekday
in their school cafeteria.
Beginning in summer, 2011,
BBP assisted as many of these children as possible,
aged Head Start through 12th grade.
During the summer BBP will provide a free weekend supply of kid-friendly meals and snacks to school-age children and youth (Head Start through 12th grade) who otherwise might not have enough to eat at home.
The Distribution of food is changing this year. The food will be given to participating families at the Back Pack Staging Site, located at 225 Second Street South, take the Airport Avenue north and come to the back side of the urology clinic. Pick up hours will be announced in May.
There is NO eligibility requirement to participate.
If you are a parent or guardian who is struggling to put enough food on your family's table, please consider signing up your child(ren) for BBP Summertime.
